Serving Those Who Served

Serving those who’ve served our country has been a priority for Recorder Mike Doran and the team in the Recorder’s Office. Across Lorain County, military veterans put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms, and it’s important that their service continues to be honored at home. Mike’s office makes recording discharge papers and issuing honorable discharge certificates free of charge, allowing veterans to preserve these vital documents safely while accessing certified copies whenever they need them.

In addition to free recordings, the Recorder’s Office offers Lorain County Veteran ID cards at no cost for veterans who bring in their recorded discharge and valid photo identification. These IDs can be used for local and statewide discounts and even free rides with the county transit system, making it easier for veterans to enjoy the benefits and recognition they deserve.

Mike views these services as more than administrative tasks — they’re personal acts of respect and gratitude toward the men and women who have given so much for the community and the nation. By removing barriers to important records and offering tangible support through veteran-focused services, the Recorder’s Office strives to make Lorain County a place where veterans feel recognized, valued, and supported.
